Living Waling Waling!

May 3, 2025

Living Waling Waling! is an interdisciplinary experience that blends fashion, sculpture, movement, and music. Heidi Grace Acuña brings together 20+ QTBIPOC collaborators to tell the origins and legacy of the Philippines’ endemic Waling Waling orchid. In this free, all-ages celebration, models and dancers transform into Heidi Grace Acuña’s orchid vision – each piece crafted with upcycled materials, hand-painted details, textile crafts, and modern digital elements, drawing inspiration from Filipino folklore and her family’s migration story. This HGA production is a heartfelt tribute to the waling-waling orchid, her unique beauty, and its symbol of growth and aspiration, in a time that needs a reminder of the goodness we are able to be and create in this world. This project is sponsored by and in partnership with Seattle Center, Seattle Office of Arts & culture, Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition, Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle Kraken, Northwest Film Forum, and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
